SCENE IN THE TROPICS
It's their world -- we're just living in it
By LESLEY ABRAVANEL
The Tour de Lance has
reached Miami! Seen dining at Nobu Monday
night: new best friends Lance Armstrong
and Matthew McConaughey. According to our
spy, 'They were just having dinner and chilling.
Matthew said they're in town to `chill, bike
ride, swim and just do their thing.' '' Which is
exactly what they did later that night at
B.E.D., where Brooke Hogan and ''a
Pussycat Doll'' were also seen hanging out.
The boys also hit Snatch and, despite
weather warnings and lifeguards trying to get
them out of the water, the surf. According to
one of our spies, 'It was as if they were in a
supermarket. They picked out, like, 30 different
women. Matt would say, `I'll take that one,' and
Lance would point to another. It was insane.''
Mariah Carey arrived
fashionably late to her concert afterparty last
weekend at Nocturnal -- 2:30 a.m.,
specifically. Carey was escorted through the
club's main entrance where she was greeted by
throngs of admirers. She arrived on the arm of
her manager/producer Benny Medina and
partied with multiplatinum performing
artists/collaborators/friends Busta Rhymes,
Timbaland and Pharrell Williams.
After posing and smiling for the camera, Carey
got down to serious partying with The World
Famous DJ Clue spinning hits from her two
decades of classics.
Summer in Paris? Why
bother when the hotel heiress Le Hilton
is coming here on Tuesday to celebrate her debut
album Stars Are Blind? Brent Bolthouse
Productions and Ingrid Casares are
hosting the big record launch at Suite.
The appropriately named DJ Vice will
spin. Antics -- er, party starts at 10.
Famed shutterbug Patrick
McMullan was spotted at Karu&Y
photographing its custom uniforms by local
designer Dulce de Leche, which will debut
at their intended opening in September. McMullan
was also spotted doing his thing Wednesday night
at the Forge, where PR pro Nick
D'Annunzio was celebrating his birthday.
Jane
Ubell-Meyer, president of Madison &
Mulholland -- the purveyor of premiere gift
bags to the stars -- is coming to Miami to teach
a class she conducts at NYC's Fashion
Institute of Technology on the ''Art of the
Goodie Bag.'' Because goodie bags are as
celebrated in Miami as they are in New York and
L.A., Ubell-Meyer decided to bring her class
here this fall. Her bags feature products such
as Diva Bikini, License 2 Bling and CAO Cigars
-- all products previously received by the likes
of Paris and Nicky Hilton, Mya,
Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria in
Madison & Mulholland's highly desirable swag
bags.
